About us

The Ekwunife Scholarship Foundation was established in honor of our beloved father, Christopher Ekwunife, whose vision, sacrifice, and unwavering belief in education transformed the destiny of our family and community. In a time of extreme difficulty following the Nigerian Civil War (1967–1970), when many in Igboland turned to trade apprenticeships as a means of survival, our father chose a bold, alternative path — he championed education.
He committed every available resource to ensuring that all his children — sons and daughters alike — received quality formal education. Through his tireless efforts, our family became one of the earliest in Ekwulobia to produce university graduates.
A vital part of this story is Cyprian Okafor Agu, our dear cousin, who was mentored and trained by our father. Cyprian later became a pillar of support, playing a collaborative and sacrificial role in advancing this educational mission. His contributions helped sustain our family’s generational pursuit of knowledge and upliftment.
This Foundation is our way of immortalizing their legacy — by sowing the same seed of educational excellence in the lives of brilliant young people from Ekwulobia.
Our Mission
